‘Wednesday’ Smashes Records and Now it’s the Second Most Viewed Netflix Series Ever

The series Wednesday, produced and directed by Tim Burton and which premiered on Netflix on November 23, has become the second most watched series in the streaming platform’s history, surpassing Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and behind only Stranger Things.

As reported by Marca, according to figures released by Nielsen, Wednesday has been watched for 6 billion minutes between November 21 and 27.

Impressive, since out of those 7 days, it actually garnered that amount in five, as it premiered two days after the measurement began.

The Record Still Belongs to the Fourth Season of Stranger Things
During that period, the second most watched series on Netflix was Dead to Me, which racked up 1.464 billion minutes. Wednesday, which has direction in several episodes and is overseen and produced by Tim Burton, has thus become the most watched at present.

The record for views in its premiere week goes to the fourth season of the Duff Brothers’ Stranger Things, which reached 7.2 billion.

However, it should be noted that Netflix and Nielsen measure their numbers differently: Netflix in hours across all devices and Nielsen in minutes on U.S. TV screens.

Secures a Second Season?
While Netflix has not officially said anything yet about a second season of the series starring Jenna Ortega, it is a matter of days before it is confirmed that there will be more seasons.

While it is true that Netflix usually cancels successful series after one or two installments, the success of ‘Wednesday’ seems destined that the adventures of this character out of The Addams Family will continue for several more years.
