Iyabo Ojo Regrets Advocating for Mohbad’s Exhumation
Renowned Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over her earlier calls for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body, citing delays in his reburial and unresolved family disputes.
Speaking on the Talk to B podcast hosted by Biola Bayo, Iyabo revealed her disappointment with the turn of events following her advocacy.
“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way,” she said. “He hasn’t been buried till now. His dad says he wants a DNA test done, and I heard the court has granted his request. But now, I hear his dad has additional conditions.”
The actress explained that her initial intention was to ensure an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of Mohbad’s controversial death. “I did my best to ensure that everyone involved was investigated, but now the focus has shifted, and DNA has become more important to them,” she added.
The late singer, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, under unclear circumstances and was buried the following day. On September 21, 2023, Lagos State Police exhumed his body to conduct an autopsy as part of the investigation.
However, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has since insisted that the singer will not be reburied until a DNA test is conducted to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s son, Liam.
The ongoing disputes and delays have drawn criticism and raised concerns about the handling of the late singer’s case, leaving fans and stakeholders in continued anticipation for closure.
