Jude Okoye Released from EFCC Custody After Two Months
Music executive Jude Okoye, the former manager of the now-defunct music duo P-Square, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending over two months in detention.
Okoye, who also heads Northside Music Limited, is facing a seven-count charge of alleged money laundering brought against him by the EFCC. His release comes after what his family describes as a protracted legal struggle to secure bail.
The news of his release was shared on Wednesday by his younger brother and P-Square member, Paul Okoye (popularly known as Rudeboy), who took to Instagram to celebrate the development. Posting homecoming videos, Paul wrote, “Jude is finally out after 2 months+. All their efforts to frustrate his bail have finally collapsed. Welcome home brother #judeengees. And happy birthday. Welcome back blood.”
The case has sparked controversy within the Okoye family, as Rudeboy previously accused his twin brother and former bandmate, Peter Okoye (Mr P), of playing a role in Jude’s legal woes. These tensions came to light after Peter testified against Jude at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
In his testimony, Peter alleged that Jude established a new company under his wife’s name and used it to divert music royalties meant for P-Square. The court has adjourned further proceedings in the case to June 4 for cross-examination.
The unfolding drama has drawn significant attention in the entertainment industry, adding a legal twist to the long-standing rift among the Okoye brothers.
