Ayra Starr Joins Forces with Wizkid for New Summer Anthem ‘Gimme Dat’

Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has dropped a fresh summer single, Gimme Dat, featuring none other than Grammy-winning star Wizkid. The track, released on April 25, 2025, is already creating buzz as a potential chart-topper and adds to an already eventful year for the fast-rising artist.

Blending nostalgic and contemporary sounds, Gimme Dat cleverly samples Wyclef Jean’s classics Diallo and 911 (featuring Mary J. Blige), while weaving in the unmistakable Galala rhythm – a nod to Nigerian street music culture. Produced by VybeO and Mikababeatz, the track sees Ayra Starr delivering heartfelt verses in pidgin English, expressing undying love and hope for reciprocation.

Wizkid steps in with his signature melodic flair, responding to Ayra’s emotional declarations with his own smooth verse, making this duet a standout moment in both artists’ discographies. The collaboration marks their second outing together, following Ayra’s appearance on 2 Sugar from Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego album.

Gimme Dat follows the release of Ayra Starr’s music video for All The Love, adding momentum to a year filled with major career highlights. Her sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21, has enjoyed commercial success, boasting hits like Commas and Woman Commando, which features Coco Jones and Aniita.

Recently, Ayra Starr topped Spotify’s Global Impact List for 2024 and earned global acclaim for her appearance on Rvssian’s international hit Santa. She also made history earlier this year with a MOBO Award win, reinforcing her status as one of Africa’s most influential music exports.

With eight nominations at the upcoming 17th Headies Awards – including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year – Ayra Starr is poised for even greater heights. And with Gimme Dat, she and Wizkid are giving fans one more reason to turn up the volume this summer.
