Kannywood Star Mansura Isa Opens Up on Marriage Collapse Over N4bn Contract
Renowned Kannywood actress Mansura Isa has revealed that her second marriage abruptly ended after her husband allegedly used their relationship as a cover to take control of a N4 billion contract linked to her.
Speaking on the BBC Hausa programme Mahangar Zamani alongside fellow actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura recounted how what she believed to be a genuine love story turned out to be a calculated move by her former husband to gain access to a lucrative business deal.
“I married for love – believing everything was real. But it turns out he had another agenda entirely,” she said. “It felt like something out of a movie. I never imagined it would end so suddenly.”
Mansura’s second marriage made headlines in June 2024, following her separation from her first husband, actor Sani Danja, with whom she shares four children. While fans celebrated her remarriage – with videos from the ceremony going viral and the bride price reportedly set at ₦1 million – things quickly took a troubling turn behind the scenes.
According to Mansura, the trouble began when she secured a contract in Lagos but had no local representative. A relative introduced her to the man who would later become her husband. Trusting his support, she allowed him to manage the deal on her behalf. Shortly after, he proposed marriage.
“We had the wedding at night, and by the next morning, he had travelled back to Lagos,” she said. “That same day, he presented me with a contract to sign, approving him to manage the entire ₦4 billion project – simply because he was now my husband.”
Mansura claimed that after gaining control of the contract, her husband cut off communication with her and began handling the business independently. Eventually, he vanished from her life altogether.
“I never saw him again. He stopped taking my calls and later divorced me after pressure from those around him,” she revealed. “When people asked him about me, he said he had forgotten he was even married.”
Despite the betrayal, Mansura said she has come to terms with the experience and has moved on.
Fati Mohammad, during the same interview, defended Kannywood actresses against the perception that they are unable to maintain marriages. She argued that celebrity marriages attract more scrutiny and that many men enter such relationships for superficial reasons.
“People think actresses leave marriages because they love luxury,” Fati said. “But many men marry us out of lust. When they get what they want, they walk away.”
Mansura’s story has sparked a wider conversation about exploitation, trust, and the unique pressures faced by women in the entertainment industry.
