Kanye West’s Yeezy Website Disappears After Shopify Cuts Ties Over Policy Violations
Kanye West’s Yeezy website has gone offline after Shopify terminated its service, citing violations of its policies.
A Shopify spokesperson confirmed the decision on Tuesday, stating that the platform removed the online store because it “did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms.” As a result, the Yeezy website, which had been selling controversial T-shirts featuring a swastika, is no longer accessible.
West’s online store gained renewed attention after he aired a self-recorded Super Bowl ad promoting the site. However, the ad was not nationally broadcast and only aired in select local markets, according to reports.
Shopify initially allowed the site to remain active for more than 24 hours despite backlash over the sale of the offensive merchandise. The delay in action drew sharp criticism from the public and organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which condemned the use of Nazi imagery.
“The swastika is a symbol adopted by Hitler and the Nazis to instill fear and promote white supremacy,” the ADL said in a statement. “There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior.”
West has recently used his X (formerly Twitter) account to share antisemitic, homophobic, and misogynistic content, prompting calls for action against him. Some of his posts had restrictions placed on them for violating X’s hate speech policies, limiting their visibility and engagement.
On Sunday night, West appeared to deactivate his own X account, writing, “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.”
