Kendrick Lamar and Drake

Kendrick Lamar Surpasses Drake in Monthly Spotify Listeners Amid Ongoing Rivalry

Kendrick Lamar continues to overshadow Drake on streaming platforms, emerging victorious in their recent musical feud. Lamar’s monthly Spotify listeners have surged to 74,115,665, narrowly surpassing Drake’s 74,086,033.

This milestone marks the first time the Compton rapper has outpaced his Canadian counterpart on the platform. While Drake remains Spotify’s most-streamed artist with over 100 billion spins, Kendrick’s recent success represents a significant turnaround. In March, Lamar’s monthly listeners were below 55 million before the release of “Like That,” a fiery collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin that reignited his long-standing beef with Drake. At that time, Drake boasted well over 80 million monthly listeners.

Despite this achievement, both rappers still trail behind Eminem, who holds over 84 million monthly listeners, making him the most popular rapper on Spotify. Overall, Eminem ranks eighth in monthly listeners, with The Weeknd (105 million), Taylor Swift (97 million), and Billie Eilish (96 million) leading the pack.

Kendrick Lamar’s recent commercial success has seen him break several records previously held by Drake. His diss track “Not Like Us” recently surpassed Drake’s “God’s Plan” as the fastest rap song to reach 500 million streams on Spotify. The track also returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, nine weeks after its debut at No. 1, marking Lamar’s first solo chart-topper to spend multiple weeks at the summit.

Additionally, “Not Like Us” boasts nearly 400 million more streams than Drake’s “Push Ups,” the most commercially successful of Drake’s diss tracks. The success of Lamar’s track and its accompanying music video has also positively impacted other businesses.

The video prominently features Compton-based restaurant Tam’s Burgers, showcasing Kendrick and producer Mustard both inside and outside the establishment. Since the video’s release last week, the restaurant has reported a 30 to 40 percent increase in business. As a token of appreciation, the owners have offered Lamar a lifetime supply of free meals.
