Kennis Music CEO Kenny Ogungbe Reveals Efforts to Curb 2Face’s Womanizing

Veteran music executive Kenny Ogungbe, popularly known as Baba Keke, has disclosed that Kennis Music, the record label that once managed Nigerian music icon 2Face (now 2Baba), made concerted efforts to curb the singer’s interactions with women during his time with the label.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Ogungbe explained that during 2Face’s early career, Kennis Music shielded him from constant attention from female admirers. According to Ogungbe, the label acted as a buffer to protect 2Face from potential distractions.

“When 2Face was with us [at Kennis Music], we prevented him from seeing girls. They would come looking for him, but we didn’t allow him to meet with any of them,” Ogungbe shared.

He added that once 2Face exited the label, Kennis Music no longer had the ability to manage his personal decisions, including his relationships with women.

Ogungbe addressed the public scrutiny 2Face faced in the years that followed, particularly his reputation as a womanizer and his involvement with multiple women that resulted in children. Despite the controversies, Ogungbe said he refrained from intervening, emphasizing that 2Face was an adult capable of making his own choices.

“Even when comedians were making jokes about him being a womanizer, I didn’t call him to question him because he’s a mature man. Every man has his cross,” he said.

2Face, who gained widespread fame in the 2000s, made headlines during the peak of his career for fathering children with multiple women. He later married actress Annie Idibia, one of his longtime partners, in 2012.

The revelation offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes challenges of managing young stars in the music industry, especially at the height of their fame.
