Kizz Daniel Urges Artists to Stop Chasing Streaming Numbers

Nigerian music star Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Daniel Anidugbe, has called on fellow artists to prioritise their artistry over chasing the top spot on streaming charts. Taking to social media, the singer shared his thoughts on the growing obsession with digital metrics in the music industry.

“Leave social media algorithms, focus on your craft,” Kizz Daniel wrote. Using the example of Grammy-winning rapper Killer Mike, he pointed out that genuine recognition often transcends streaming numbers.

The Buga crooner also questioned the credibility of chart-topping statistics, claiming discrepancies between streaming platforms. “Stop chasing number 1 song, it’s meh now — everything can be controlled. Most of those songs’ numbers no dey correlate on other platforms,” he added.

Clarifying his stance, Kizz Daniel addressed the use of bots to inflate streaming numbers, noting that while it is a marketing strategy, it may not suit established artists. “Farming isn’t a crime, it’s marketing… for placement and all… but na for who get the money,” he explained.

His comments were not meant to criticise his peers but to inspire up-and-coming artists to share their work without fear of being overlooked due to low streaming stats. “We ain’t shading anybody here… just tryna push the new generation to drop those hidden gems,” he said.

Kizz Daniel’s message has sparked conversations among fans and industry stakeholders, highlighting the ongoing debate about authenticity versus commercial success in the digital era of music.
