Lagos More Expensive Than the US, Says BNXN After Relocating
Nigerian singer BNXN, born Daniel Benson, has claimed that living in Lagos is more expensive than living in the United States following his recent relocation.
Speaking during a livestream on TikTok, the artist compared his experiences in both locations, arguing that residents in the US face fewer day-to-day financial demands outside of their regular bills.
“I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here,” BNXN said.
The singer went on to compare the cost of living in Lagos with that of Los Angeles, suggesting that most expenses in the American city are lower than those in Nigeria’s commercial capital, except for housing costs.
“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive. For instance, I am paying $12,000 monthly for my rent. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good.”
BNXN’s comments add to ongoing conversations about the rising cost of living in Lagos, where increasing prices for goods and services have become a major concern for many residents.
The singer did not provide a detailed breakdown of the expenses he compared, but his remarks have sparked debate on social media about the relative costs of living in major cities across Nigeria and the United States.
