Lionsgate Definitely Isn’t Letting the John Wick Franchise Die

The John Wick franchise is alive and well, and fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Lionsgate executive Joe Drake has confirmed that a fifth John Wick movie is currently in development, along with multiple spinoffs.

He assured fans that there will be a regular cadence of John Wick content, indicating the franchise’s ongoing growth. The expansion of the John Wick world will naturally lead to the development of the fifth movie, building upon the stories being told.

Drake mentioned two projects that were already known to fans. The Continental, a prequel series consisting of three episodes, will explore the early days of the New York hotel.

This series is set to premiere on Peacock in September. Additionally, there is a movie spinoff called Ballerina, featuring Ana de Armas as the ballerina-assassin Rooney.

Ballerina takes place after the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum and is scheduled for release on June 7, 2024. Another spinoff is also in the works, although Drake did not provide specific details about its title.

In addition to the film and television projects, Lionsgate is exploring the possibility of a John Wick video game. The company recognizes the potential for expanding the franchise into the gaming industry.

Lionsgate is determined to keep a firm grip on the John Wick franchise, ensuring that fans will continue to enjoy new content in the future.
