Lloyd Banks Unveils ‘Halloween Havoc IV: The 72nd Hour’
Former G-Unit member Lloyd Banks has solidified his late-career revival with the release of his latest mixtape, “Halloween Havoc IV: The 72nd Hour.” Dropped on Tuesday (October 31), the project arrived just in time to coincide with the celebrated holiday of Halloween.
The mixtape contains a collection of 15 songs and boasts production from a roster of his closest collaborators, including George Gentson, Cartune Beatz, Haas Almadhi, and Mr. Authentic, among others.
Featuring only two guest appearances by New Yorkers Vado and Sy Ari da Kid, who spent his childhood in Atlanta, the project reflects Banks’ signature style.
The announcement of “Halloween Havoc IV: The 72nd Hour” came a couple of weeks before its release, generating anticipation among Banks’ dedicated fanbase. A chilling, cinematic trailer accompanied the announcement, evoking the essence of The Purge movie series.
Banks’ original “Halloween Havoc” mixtape dropped in 2008, with subsequent parts two and three arriving in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Preceding this recent instalment, Banks re-entered the music scene in 2021 with his fourth studio album, “The Course of the Inevitable,” reigniting another beloved series within his musical repertoire. This was followed by the sequel, “The Course of the Inevitable 2,” released last year, and “The Course of the Inevitable 3” in May.
The artist’s prolific output of well-received projects in recent years has bolstered his self-assurance, with Banks recently asserting his status as the best rapper alive.
Responding to tweets acknowledging his past brilliance, Banks made it clear that he has not lost his touch. One fan stated, “There was a point in time that @Lloydbanks was the greatest rapper walking the earth.” Banks replied, “Appreciate that, who’s the greatest now?” Further emphasizing his prowess, Banks declared, “Ain’t nobody out rapping me now.” This self-confidence in his artistry has further cemented Banks’ place in the rap scene.
