Ludacris Breaks Silence on Eight-Year Hiatus, Promises a Comeback in 2024

Renowned actor, rapper, and creative force Ludacris has announced his much-anticipated return to the music scene in 2024, ending an eight-year hiatus. In a candid conversation with BET on Monday (November 20), Ludacris revealed his plans for the comeback while expressing uncertainty about the format of his upcoming musical endeavor.

“Yeah, some music projects will be coming out next year. I don’t wanna fake, I don’t wanna stutter-step,” Ludacris explained. “I don’t wanna be like [André] 3000 and say, ‘I got an album coming out.’ I don’t know. It’s definitely some music coming next year, but I don’t know if it’s like an EP or an LP. We’re going to figure it out.”

When asked about the motivation behind his return, Ludacris attributed it to a need to rediscover his hunger for music. He cited his involvement in diverse projects such as the Fast & Furious franchise and the Netflix children’s show Karma’s World, emphasizing the importance of living life to have meaningful content in his music.

“‘Cause when you put out music, in order for it to be organic and real, you gotta talk about what goes on in your life. So if I had like nine consistent albums, sometimes you gotta take a step back and live some life so that you have a lot more to talk about, and that’s what I was doing,” Ludacris elaborated.

Throughout the past year, Ludacris has teased his return with freestyles, reminding fans and peers of his lyrical prowess. The 46-year-old artist last released a studio album, Ludaversal, over eight years ago, but his time away from music has been far from idle. Besides his role in the Fast & Furious franchise, Ludacris has been engaged in various projects, including a new toy line and the Netflix children’s show Karma’s World. He was also honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May.

Reflecting on the significance of the star, Ludacris expressed gratitude for the collective effort that has shaped his career. He acknowledged his fellow rap contemporaries and supporters, attributing his success to the interconnected network of people who have believed in and inspired him.

“No matter what people say I can’t do, I will continue to shatter those stereotypes and show people it’s possible in order to make everyone who got me here proud,” Ludacris asserted. “Because you all inspire my hard work and dedication to receive this star today. I’m motivated by legacy and history.”
