‘Morbius’ Flops In Theaters After Returning Due To Meme Popularity
Two months after its original release, Morbius flopped on its return to theatres earning $85,000 on Friday.
It should be recalled that the movie was given a second chance at the theatres due to the popularity of memes regarding the film.
With the latest lackluster return, the movie brought its total box office earnings to $73.6 million as the film still holds just a 17% score on Rotten Tomatoes, an American review-aggregation website for film and TV.
Recently speaking on why he agreed to play the role of Morbius, the protagonist, Jared Leto revealed that he was drawn to the uniqueness of the character.
“It’s harder and harder to find a character that hasn’t been portrayed before,” Leto explained. “And the fact that this character is coming to screens for the very first time April 1st, I’m incredibly excited about that. And the other thing that I loved is that you have this transformative performance inside of this big Marvel movie and that there were kind of three characters in one here, it was perfectly suited for me and what I’m interested in.”
