Naomi Campbell Banned from Charity Trustee Role in UK Over Misuse of Funds

British supermodel Naomi Campbell has been banned from serving as a trustee for any charity in the United Kingdom for five years, following an investigation that revealed she misused charity funds on personal luxury expenses, including spa treatments and high-end hotel stays.

The UK Charity Commission, which oversees and regulates charitable organizations in England and Wales, announced the decision after a three-year investigation into Campbell’s financial conduct as a trustee. According to the watchdog, only 8.5% of the charity’s overall spending went towards charitable grants between 2016 and 2022. The inquiry found that a significant portion of the funds was spent on Campbell’s personal expenses, including luxury accommodations, spa treatments, and even cigarettes.

In response to the findings, Campbell expressed her shock in an interview with AP. “I have just found out about the findings today, and I am extremely concerned. I wasn’t in control of my charity; I put the control in the hands of a legal employer,” she stated.

The commission’s investigation highlights the need for greater transparency and accountability in charity governance, particularly when high-profile individuals are involved.
