NBA YoungBoy Faces Additional Charges in Prescription Drug Fraud Case

NBA YoungBoy finds himself in deeper legal waters as new charges are added to his already extensive list of legal troubles in a prescription drug fraud case.

Previously charged with 63 counts related to identity fraud, forgery, possession of a dangerous weapon, and more, the rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, now faces additional charges including possession of a firearm by a restricted person and two counts of obtaining a prescription without permission.

The Weber County’s Attorney’s Office in Utah, where YoungBoy was arrested last month in connection with a prescription drug fraud ring, has requested that the 24-year-old be held without bail. They argue that there is clear evidence indicating he poses a substantial danger to the community and may flee the jurisdiction of the court if released on bail.

According to court documents, YoungBoy’s alleged involvement in the fraud scheme included calling in prescriptions under the identity of a real doctor and using fraudulent patient information to obtain Promethazine with Codeine. The affidavit also suggests that YoungBoy impersonated a doctor during the scheme, though his use of language raised suspicion.

Despite the mounting legal challenges, YoungBoy has not publicly commented on his arrest or the new charges he faces.

This latest development adds to YoungBoy’s ongoing legal battles. He had been on house arrest in Salt Lake City since late 2021 after being indicted in Louisiana on charges of felon in possession of a firearm. The rapper was allegedly found with two guns during a music video shoot in Baton Rouge in September 2020, leading to subsequent arrests and federal charges.

While YoungBoy was acquitted of some charges in 2022, he still awaits trial in Louisiana on the original indictment. As his legal woes escalate, the rapper’s future remains uncertain amidst the mounting legal challenges.
