Negative Energy Runs in My Family – Bovi

Nigerian comedian Bovi has revealed that he consciously broke away from what he described as a pattern of negative energy passed down through generations in his family.

Speaking during the first live edition of the WithChude podcast, Bovi reflected on his strained relationship with his late father, who died in February 2025. The comedian disclosed that their bond was marred by emotional distance and inherited negativity.

“What made the relationship with my late father difficult is what they call family patterns – or what the church calls generational curses,” he said. “My father gave me what he had, and what he had was a lot of negative energy. That was given to him as well. I have chosen to be the stop.”

Bovi noted that although he used to recount their troubled relationship from a place of bitterness, he eventually forgave his father long before his passing. He shared that from 2021 until his father’s death, he and his siblings cared for him with love, and he found peace in doing so.

“I didn’t struggle to take care of him,” he added. “There was no resentment. I had let go.”

The comedian’s candid revelation has sparked conversations about emotional healing, forgiveness, and the impact of unresolved generational trauma within Nigerian families.
