Nigerians Cold-Hearted, Push Black Americans Away – Rapper Azealia Banks Claims
American rapper Azealia Banks has stirred controversy online after making remarks about Nigerians and their relationship with Black Americans.
The rapper, known for her hit song 212, claimed that Nigerians are not welcoming towards Black Americans and described them as “cold-hearted.”
In a post shared on her X account, Banks stated that she did not want to identify as Nigerian because, according to her, Nigerians tend to push Black Americans away.
She also compared Nigeria to Ghana, which she described as being more receptive to Black Americans, while expressing pride in her Ghanaian heritage.
The comments quickly triggered reactions from many Nigerians on social media, with several users criticising the rapper for making sweeping generalisations about an entire population.
Despite the backlash, Banks reportedly continued posting comments aimed at Nigerians, further fueling online debates surrounding her statements.
The rapper is no stranger to controversy and has previously drawn attention for outspoken remarks on social, cultural, and entertainment-related issues.
