Nigeria’s Oscars Selection Committee Expands with Five New Members

The Nigeria Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) has welcomed five new members as it gears up for the 97th Academy Awards, scheduled for March 2, 2025.

In a recent statement, NOSC leader Stephanie Linus announced the addition of several distinguished figures: Ali Nuhu, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation; film producer Blessing Egbe; journalist and film critic Victor Akande; Group CEO of Filmhouse Cinemas Kene Okwuosa; and actress Ijeoma Agu. These new members will collaborate with the existing team, which includes Linus, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Victor Okhai, Andy Amenechi, Yibo Koko, Izu Ojukwu, Dimeji Ajibola, Emem Isong, Jude Idada, Meg Otanwa, and John Njamah.

The committee emphasized that the inclusion of professionals from diverse creative fields would strengthen the selection process for choosing the best film from Nigeria to represent at the Oscars.
