Nollywood Star Okey Bakassi Crowned King in Imo State
Veteran Nollywood actor and comedian Okey Bakassi has officially ascended the throne as the traditional ruler of the Umuihuocha Autonomous Community in Mbaise, Imo State.
The entertainer, whose real name is Okechukwu Onyegbule, was presented to the community in a colourful coronation ceremony that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people. In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the actor was formally introduced to his people as His Royal Highness Eze Okechukwu Onyegbule, the Okwe II of Umuihuocha Obohia.
“Special presentation as king (Eze) of Umuihuocha community,” Bakassi captioned the video, which showed scenes from the celebratory event.
His coronation comes just weeks after he first announced his appointment as monarch, marking a new chapter in the life of the respected entertainer, who has built a long-standing career in comedy and film.
