Nollywood Veteran Femi Brainard Opens Up About Being an Uber Driver Abroad

In a candid revelation, veteran Nollywood actor Femi Brainard has disclosed his transition from the entertainment industry to becoming an Uber driver abroad to support his family.

During an interview with Teju Babyface, Brainard shared insights into his journey after relocating abroad, highlighting the challenges faced by celebrities in foreign lands.

Addressing the stark difference in recognition between Nigeria and abroad, Brainard emphasized the harsh reality of being an unknown figure in America despite his fame back home. “As a celebrity, it’s preferable to be a prominent figure in Nigeria than to travel abroad and become unrecognized,” he remarked.

Brainard’s decision to drive for Uber in America stemmed from the necessity to provide for his family. Despite his status, he encountered disbelief from Nigerian passengers who struggled to reconcile his celebrity persona with his new role as a cab driver. “America does not recognize your stardom, nor does it respect your celebrity,” he lamented.

His candid admission sheds light on the challenges faced by actors navigating the complexities of fame and livelihood outside their home country.
