‘Olamide’s Wife Turned Me to Errand Girl’ – Former YBNL Signee, Temmie Ovwasa

Nigerian singer Temmie Ovwasa, formerly known as YBNL Princess, has opened up about her difficult experiences while under the management of Olamide, the renowned Nigerian musician and former label boss at YBNL, and his wife, Aisha Adebukunmi.

In a series of posts on her Instagram story, Ovwasa revealed that despite being initially praised and promoted as the “princess” of YBNL, she faced various challenges during her time with the label.

She alleged that Aisha Adebukunmi, Olamide’s wife, treated her disrespectfully and often humiliated her in public settings. Ovwasa also claimed that Adebukunmi repeatedly reminded her of her modest background, which she found hurtful.

In her own words, Ovwasa shared, “I got into the music industry to sing, Olamide carried me on his head and paraded me as the ‘princess’ but once the cameras were off I was in a house with his disrespectful a$$ classist wife who made it her mission to remind me that I was a poor girl that they brought from Ilorin to change her life. I’d go out with this woman and she’d humiliate me publicly! When people ask for pictures, she made it her mission to remind me that I was broke.”

Ovwasa also expressed her frustration with her lack of musical output during her time at YBNL. She revealed that she had recorded over 25 songs, only to find out that former YBNL in-house producer Pheelz had carelessly misplaced a hard drive containing her unreleased album. This, she claimed, limited her music releases during her tenure with the label.

Despite these challenges, Temmie Ovwasa has continued her music career after parting ways with YBNL. She has since released multiple albums and expressed her creative freedom in her work.

Her revelations have sparked conversations within the Nigerian music industry and among fans, shedding light on the challenges faced by artists in their quest for success and creative fulfilment.
