Oprah’s father, Vernon Winfrey, Dies at 89
American talk show host, Oprah has confirmed that her father, Vernon Winfrey, had passed away in his house in Nashville, Tennessee.
“Yesterday with family surrounding his bedside I had the sacred honor of witnessing the man responsible for my life, take his last breath. We could feel peace enter the room at his passing.” the TV star wrote on her social media post.
Oprah threw a surprise party and barbeque for her father this week to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend under the name “Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Day”.
The TV mogul lived with her father in Nashville during several year of her youth.
