PUBG MOBILE Launches Inaugural Africa Cup, Offers Path to 2025 Global Championship

In a landmark move for African esports, PUBG MOBILE has announced the launch of the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Africa Cup, giving players across Sub-Saharan Africa a direct route to the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) for the very first time.

The newly introduced Africa Cup marks a major step toward global inclusion for African gamers, who previously lacked a structured pathway to the prestigious PMGC – one of the world’s most elite mobile esports tournaments, established in 2020.

Registration for the Africa Cup opens on June 26 and runs until July 9, 2025, exclusively through the PUBG MOBILE app. Players from across the continent will compete in online qualifiers and group stages, leading up to an all-expense-paid Grand Final in Kenya this September.

The stakes are high: the winning team will earn a spot in the PMGC Finals and walk away with $2,000 in prize money, part of a total $8,000 prize pool sponsored by smartphone brand Infinix. Second and third place finishers will receive $1,400 and $1,000 respectively, with cash prizes extending down to 16th place – ensuring broad rewards across the competition.

“This is a game-changing moment for mobile esports in Africa,” said Brian, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing for Sub-Saharan Africa. “We’re incredibly excited to see squads from all corners of the continent drop into the zone and battle it out for a chance at continental and global glory.”

The Africa Cup is being celebrated not just as a tournament, but as a launchpad for emerging talent. With competitive mobile gaming rapidly expanding across African markets, the event is set to amplify the region’s presence on the international esports stage.

Fans can follow all the action via PUBG MOBILE Africa’s official TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube channels.

About PUBG MOBILE:

Adapted from the globally popular PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, PUBG MOBILE is a battle royale game where up to 100 players fight for survival on a shrinking battlefield. Co-developed by LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS of Tencent Games and KRAFTON, Inc., it remains one of the most played mobile games worldwide.

With the Africa Cup, PUBG MOBILE continues to push boundaries – bridging continents, building communities, and setting the stage for the next generation of esports stars.
