In a resounding testament to the global appeal of Afrobeats, Nigerian superstars Rema and Ayra Starr have secured notable positions in France’s top streaming charts for 2023. The National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (S.N.E.P) revealed that Rema’s “Calm Down” and Ayra Starr’s “Rush” claimed the fifth and ninth spots, respectively, in the Top 10 streaming songs of the year. Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” clinched the coveted first position.

The rankings, shared via S.N.E.P’s Instagram, showcased the influence of French-produced and French-sung projects, covering diverse generations and musical genres. Notably, rap dominated the rankings, reflecting its significant impact on the French music scene. The announcement expressed gratitude to artists, their dedicated teams, and the fans for their unwavering commitment and loyalty.

Further underscoring their prominence, Rema’s “Raves & Roses” secured the 73rd position, while Aya Nakamura’s “Aya” claimed the 186th spot in the Top 200 albums of 2023.

The recognition continued on the international stage, with the Official Charts UK unveiling their “40 Biggest Songs of 2023.” Rema’s “Calm Down” emerged as the highest-ranked African song on the chart, affirming the artist’s growing global influence.

In a significant achievement for Ayra Starr, the talented artist received her inaugural Grammy Award nomination in the Best African Music Performance category. The nod was a well-deserved acknowledgment of her lead single, “Rush.” Ayra Starr found herself in esteemed company alongside Burna Boy, Davido, Tyla, Olamide, and Asake. The nomination reflects the continued rise of Afrobeats on the international music stage and the artists’ contributions to the genre’s global recognition.
