Reminisce Reveals Family as the Reason for His Music Break
Renowned Nigerian hip-hop artist and actor, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, famously known as Reminisce, recently shared insights into the reason behind his temporary departure from the music scene.
In the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, the rapper disclosed that he took a hiatus from music to prioritize his family. The ‘Local Rappers’ hitmaker explained that his intense focus on his musical career had drawn his attention away from significant changes within his home and prevented him from spending time with his children, despite living under the same roof.
Recounting a telling incident, Reminisce revealed, “There were times I don’t see my kids for 4 days, and we live together. When I get back, they’re in school…”
He delved into a personal anecdote, recalling how his wife had entirely transformed the setting of their home during a period when he was actively releasing albums annually and engaging in frequent tours. The rapper narrated how the home décor underwent alterations that lasted for almost two years, and yet he had failed to notice these changes. This realization prompted him to reassess his priorities, emphasizing the importance of spending quality time with his family.
He elaborated, “One of the reasons I actually did take a step back. Let me tell you this story. Some years back, my wife changed the entire setup of our house. It was around that period where I was dropping albums every year and touring. My house painting was changed for almost two years, and I didn’t notice. That was when I realized that I need to take a step back and be with my family. Family over everything.”
Reminisce’s personal account sheds light on the critical realization that his relentless commitment to his music career had inadvertently led to a disconnection from essential family moments, prompting his conscious decision to recenter his focus on his family life.
