Report: Infantino Could Step Down as FIFA President Amid Growing Pressure

FIFA President Gianni Infantino could be set to leave office in the coming days, according to a report by The Times of the UK.

The report links the uncertainty surrounding Infantino’s future to the collapse of his proposed plan to sell a stake in the FIFA World Cup to private investors.

The initiative, known as the FIFA Forward Enterprise scheme, reportedly faced widespread opposition from football governing bodies, leading to its eventual abandonment. Critics also raised concerns that the proposal could have personally benefited Infantino.

Although the 56-year-old is said to be keen on remaining in office, The Times reported that support for his leadership has continued to decline.

According to a source quoted by the newspaper, Infantino is now a “dead duck,” with potential successors already being considered by those seeking a change in FIFA’s leadership.

The report also said the English Football Association (FA) and UEFA, European football’s governing body, have lost confidence in Infantino’s leadership.
