Selena Gomez has broken the Instagram record by becoming the most followed woman on the platform with 400 million followers. The former Disney star achieved this milestone on March 17, just three months after returning to Instagram. She surpassed Kylie Jenner, who previously held the title with 382 million followers.
Gomez’s popularity on Instagram is not new. She has consistently been one of the most followed celebrities on the platform for years. However, her journey with social media has been a rocky one.
In a 2021 interview with Vogue, the singer revealed that she deleted the photo-sharing app from her phone in 2019 after it started to affect her mental health. “At one point Instagram became my whole world, and it was really dangerous,” she told InStyle in 2022.
