South African Rapper Nasty C Reveals His Top 5 Nigerian Rappers

In a recent interview with Glitch Africa, South African rapper Nasty C, a prominent figure in the African music scene, unveiled his list of the top 5 Nigerian rappers, showcasing the dynamic landscape of Nigerian hip-hop.

Securing the coveted top spot on Nasty C’s list is the legendary hip-hop icon M.I Abaga. With an illustrious career spanning over a decade, M.I Abaga has not only significantly contributed to the genre but has also amassed multiple awards for his exceptional work.

Claiming the second position is Olamide Baddo, a trailblazer whose influence has played a pivotal role in popularizing rap in Nigeria. His impressive accolades, commercial success, and undeniable impact have solidified his status as one of the country’s most celebrated artists.

Phyno takes the third spot, recognized for his impactful contributions to the continent’s hip-hop scene, particularly for his influence within the Igbo-speaking rap community.

In the fourth and fifth positions, Nasty C acknowledges the rising stars ODUMODUBLVCK and Blaqbonez. ODUMODUBLVCK, a breakout artist in 2023, is credited with inspiring a commercial resurgence for hip-hop in Nigeria. His recent collaboration with Nasty C on the deluxe version of “EZIOKWU” highlights the growing international appeal of Nigerian hip-hop.

Blaqbonez, a new school frontline star, secures the fifth spot with his genre-fusion music, incorporating contemporary elements and innovative marketing approaches. His presence places him at the forefront of advancing the hip-hop genre in Nigeria.
