In a surprising turn of events, rapper Jeezy and talk show host Jeannie Mai have decided to end their two-year marriage, according to recent reports emerging about the once-happy couple.
Court documents obtained by HipHopDX reveal that the Atlanta rapper, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, filed a divorce petition in the Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia on Thursday (September 14). Jeezy cited the marriage as “irretrievably broken” and made reference to their child, born in 2021.
Furthermore, Jeezy has requested the court to uphold the terms of the prenuptial agreement he and Mai signed before their marriage. The documents state, “The parties entered into a Prenuptial Agreement dated March 26, 2021, that was duly signed and executed by both Petitioner and Respondent on March 26, 2021 (hereinafter the ‘Prenuptial Agreement’) and which resolves all financial issues incident to this divorce. The Prenuptial Agreement should be enforced, and the terms set forth therein made the final Order of this Court.”
The divorce is categorized as a contested divorce, indicating that Jeannie Mai is disputing the proceedings. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 19 at 11:00 a.m. local time.
