Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Swings into Homes Through Video-on-Demand Platforms

The web-slinging adventure continues as Miles Morales leaps across dimensions

In a thrilling update for Marvel fans and movie enthusiasts alike, the highly anticipated “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is now available for streaming through various video-on-demand platforms. The second chapter in the daring multiversal escapades of young Miles Morales has swung into action, offering audiences the chance to rent or purchase the film from the comfort of their homes. This animated sensation can now be enjoyed on platforms including Apple TV, Youtube Movies, Amazon Prime Video, and Zee5.

Among these options, Apple TV offers an exceptional viewing experience. Moviegoers can relish the premium Ultra HD version of the film accompanied by Dolby Atmos audio. However, this premium quality comes at a price, with the only available option being a purchase for Rs. 490. For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, an SD (standard definition) version is available for Rs. 390, both of which come with subtitles in multiple languages.

On Youtube Movies, the journey with Miles Morales begins at Rs. 590 for the SD version, while the 1080p full-HD print is priced at Rs. 820. Unlike Apple TV, neither of these options allows for rentals, making them a purchase-only experience.

For those who prefer renting over purchasing, Amazon Prime Video and Zee5 offer this convenience. However, the pricing strategy on Amazon Prime Video might raise a few eyebrows, as both the SD and HD versions are listed at Rs. 399. Despite the odd pricing structure, viewers are likely to lean towards the higher quality version, provided their internet bandwidth can support it. On the other hand, Zee5 presents a Rs. 349 package with no specified version, likely to be in HD quality considering its target audience in India. Zee5 also boasts audio options in 10 regional languages, matching the diversity of the theatrical release.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has spun a web of success at the box office, amassing a global collection of $683.8 million. This remarkable feat has propelled the film to become the highest-grossing Sony Pictures Animation creation to date. Garnering both impressive numbers and rave reviews, the film’s opening scenes have been exclusively unveiled by IGN, offering a tantalizing glimpse into its captivating narrative.

The film opens with Miles Morales, portrayed by Shameik Moore, reuniting with Gwen Stacy, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The storyline catapults them across the multiverse, entangling them in a complex web of interdimensional Spider-People as they unravel a major conspiracy. The plot thickens when Spider-Man 2099, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, presents a risky choice to save the multiverse, a choice that Miles courageously rejects. This decision sparks an all-out, dimension-spanning war, featuring captivating scenes including a battle against a formidable Spider-Cat.

The enigmatic antagonist of the multiverse’s plight is revealed to be The Spot, brought to life by Jason Schwartzman. This character possesses unique abilities that grant him the power to manipulate portals and traverse dimensions at will. The ensemble cast also includes standout performances from Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, and Jake Johnson as the original Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

Adding even more flair to the film, Karan Soni lends his voice to Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India, representing the universe of Mumbattan through a watercolour style reminiscent of classic Indian comic books. With six main art styles showcased in the film, along with quirky doodle sketches that inject personality, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” promises a visually stunning and action-packed ride that audiences can now enjoy at their fingertips.
