Teni Reveals Battle with Life-Threatening Throat Infection

Renowned musician Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, recently opened up about a life-threatening throat infection that she grappled with earlier in July.

Sharing her experience in an Instagram post, Teni disclosed the challenges she faced due to a throat infection, which led to temporary voice loss and ultimately posed a threat to her ability to sing.

In a video that has since gained traction on social media, the singer revealed that her doctors recommended a significant operation to prevent the risk of losing her voice permanently while she was in the process of recording her second album, ‘Tears of the Sun.’

She shared, “In July 2023, while recording my second album ‘Tears of the Sun,’ I was diagnosed with a life-threatening throat infection. After experiencing multiple episodes of temporary voice loss, my doctors suggested a major operation to prevent permanent voice loss. In September 2023, I was hospitalized due to repeated cases of exhaustion and received several injections over five days.”

Despite not undergoing surgery, Teni mentioned that she experienced a mild recovery of her singing voice in October 2023 after seeking medical attention. By November 2023, she was fully back on stage, marking her return with the release of her new single ‘Malaika,’ which she described as a song of praise and gratitude to God for His mercy and grace.

Teni’s disclosure about her health struggles and her return to the stage emphasizes her journey through the challenges posed by a life-threatening infection and her subsequent recovery, marking her triumphant return to her musical career.
