Tesla Recalls 1.1 Million Cars in China Over Braking Defect
Tesla is set to recall over 1.1 million cars in China due to possible safety concerns, according to a statement released by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
The recall will commence on May 29th, and the affected vehicles were manufactured between January 12, 2019, and April 24, 2023.
The SAMR stated that the recall is due to issues that could increase the chances of drivers inadvertently pressing the accelerator pedal for a prolonged period, posing a risk of collision and safety hazards. The affected models include the imported Model S, Model X, Model 3, and the Chinese-made Model 3 and Model 6.
Tesla has submitted a plan to the regulator to address the concerns. The company aims to adjust or add notification features to the affected vehicles to minimize the risks.
Earlier in March, Tesla had recalled over 2,600 imported Model S vehicles in China due to a safety issue where the hood of the car could unexpectedly open while driving, creating risks for the vehicle and other motorists.
