The Black Phone: Set For June 24 Release Date + Cast and Trailer

Four days from today, movie fans will witness the official release of the much talked about horror movie, Black Phone.

Release Date?

It has been revealed that we won’t have to wait long to see the Black Phone as it will be released in cinemas on Friday 24 June 2022, the summer release date echoes the success of films such as The Conjuring which was also released in the warmer months.

What is The Black Phone Movie About?

The Black Phone is based on the Joe Hill short story from 2004, who happens to be the son of the renowned Stephen King.

The film tells the story of the 13 year old Finney Shaw and his abduction by the infamous masked kidnapper known as the Grabber, who has been taking and murdering children in the area for years. Finney appears not to be the average victim as a black phone in his cell allows him to contact the killers previous prey, who attempt to help him escape the dreaded man.

Cast and Crew

Perhaps most well known for Doctor Strange in 2016, Scott Derrickson takes on the role of director for the film. However, Derrickson is no stranger to the horror genre as prior to his marvel work he did films such as the 2011 Sinister, the chilling 2005 flick The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and the ominous and dark 2014 movie Deliver Us From Evil.

The film generally focuses on the two main characters of Finney and the horrific grabber, with the victim being portrayed by Mason Thames and the killer as Ethan Hawke. Nevertheless, there is still an ensemble of other cast members such as Madeleine McGraw as Finney’s sister who plays the important role of having psychic dreams about her kidnapped brother.
