What I Love About Nigerians – Stefflon Don
British Jamaican rapper Stephanie Victoria Allen, widely known as Stefflon Don, has expressed her admiration for Nigeria and its vibrant culture.
In an interview with radio host Henrieveill on Tuesday, Stefflon Don shared her thoughts on what makes Nigeria special to her. When asked about her love for Nigeria, she enthusiastically responded, “Ooh, my gosh, there’s so many things—music, food. I like the people, the banter. They are so funny, very vibrant, and very colourful, like everything is in your face. It’s very loud. They remind me of Jamaicans but in a different way.”
She elaborated further, highlighting her appreciation for Nigerian traditions. “I like your tradition; I feel like, as Jamaicans, we’ve been stripped of that. We’ve just got dancehall, good food, and vibes. We are just nice people, but we ain’t really got the cultural aspect; it has been taken away from us,” she said.
Stefflon Don has previously showcased her love for Nigerian culture in her works. Her music video for “Can’t Let You Go” featured Nigerian-themed dances, Ankara attire, and the use of Pidgin and Yoruba languages. Additionally, in December 2022, she celebrated her birthday with an Ankara-themed party.
Stefflon Don’s genuine admiration for Nigeria underscores the cultural connections and mutual appreciation between Jamaica and Nigeria.
