Why I’m Not Close with My First Daughter – Seun Kuti

Renowned Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has shared the reasons behind his distant relationship with his first daughter. In a candid interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, Seun discussed his fatherhood journey and the complexities that have affected his relationship with his eldest child.

Seun explained that his lack of connection with his first daughter’s mother has impacted their bond. “The greatest thing I ever achieved is becoming a father. I have two kids, but I’m not really close to my other daughter. To have the joy of that is my greatest achievement,” he revealed.

The singer elaborated on the challenging circumstances surrounding his relationship with his first daughter. “No family is perfect, but I’m not close to the mother of my first daughter. I wasn’t married when I had my first daughter,” he said. Seun also noted that his experience with premarital sex was limited, stating, “Interestingly, I only had premarital sex twice before my first daughter was born.”

Despite these challenges, Seun emphasized the significance of fatherhood in his life, highlighting it as his most meaningful accomplishment.
