Yhemolee Laments Rising Trend of Online Begging on Social Media

Nigerian singer and actor Idowu Adeyemi, popularly known as Yhemolee, has voiced his displeasure over what he described as the growing culture of begging on social media platforms.

In a recent post, the entertainer criticised users who constantly solicit financial help online, arguing that social media has increasingly become a “begging site.”

Yhemolee noted that many individuals have turned online spaces into virtual street corners, requesting money from strangers under the guise of need.

“It’s no longer news that social media isn’t social media anymore. It’s now a begging site. The only difference is that unlike the beggars on the road, the beggars on the internet have data,” he wrote.

He further lamented that even casual photo uploads are often met with a flood of comments containing bank account numbers. “These days, when you post a picture, the first ten comments are account numbers,” he added, urging habitual beggars to stay away from his posts.

Yhemolee rose to prominence with his hit track “Mon Cheri” featuring Chinko Ekun and Asake, and has also appeared in Nollywood productions such as “Gangs of Lagos” and “Alakada: Bad and Boujee.”
