Young Thug Drops New Album While in Jail, Awaiting RICO Trial

Rapper Young Thug, currently involved in a RICO trial, recently made a cryptic Instagram post hinting at a new album titled “Business is Business.”

The post featured Young Thug in a courtroom, sparking speculation among his fans about his upcoming project.

Young Thug’s most recent album, “Punk,” was released in 2021.

Jury selection for the RICO trial, which has faced numerous disruptions and arrests, has been suspended until July 10, according to the senior staff attorney of Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville.

A Fulton County deputy was arrested on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a defendant, leading to their removal from the case.

Concerns have been raised by court-appointed defense attorneys about their low wages and excessive workloads, prompting the Georgia Public Defender Council to increase their monthly rate to a capped amount of $55,000.

Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, faces eight criminal counts under the federal RICO law, originally designed to combat organized crime.

The RICO law allows prosecutors to establish a pattern of racketeering by linking seemingly unrelated crimes with a common objective, leading to more severe penalties.

Georgia has its own RICO law, which doesn’t require alleged criminal enterprises to have a long history, unlike the federal law.
