Zendaya Donates $100,000 to Theatre Where Her Career Began

Zendaya, known for her roles in “Euphoria” and “Dune: Part 2,” has made a generous donation of $100,000 to the California Shakespeare Theater, where she first started her acting journey.

Teaming up with the Women Donors Network (WDN), Zendaya’s contribution aims to support the theatre’s North Star Fund, which assists in covering improvement costs and future productions.

Leena Barakat, President and CEO of WDN, expressed their delight in partnering with Zendaya, stating, “We are very pleased to be able to offer this general support grant in partnership with Zendaya. We hope that our funding supports your work and helps further your strategic vision, wherever funds are most needed.”

The theatre’s executive director, Clive Worsley, extended gratitude to Zendaya and WDN for their partnership, emphasizing the impact of the donation on the theatre’s upcoming endeavours, including the 50th Anniversary production of “As You Like It.”

Zendaya’s connection to the theatre dates back to her childhood, as her mother worked there for 12 summers. Despite her rise to fame in Hollywood, Zendaya has reflected on the challenges of navigating the industry from a young age, expressing a desire to have had more time to simply be a kid.

Her donation to the California Shakespeare Theater reflects her commitment to supporting the arts and giving back to the community where her career began.
