2Pac’s Family Initiates Investigation into Allegations of Diddy’s Involvement in Rapper’s Murder
The family of the late rapper Tupac Shakur has reportedly begun their own investigation into allegations linking Sean “Diddy” Combs to the murder of 2Pac. This decision follows claims resurfacing from Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former Compton gang member, who alleged that Diddy had offered him money to kill both Tupac and Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight.
According to a report from TMZ on July 29, Tupac’s family has enlisted a team of investigators and attorneys, including Alex Spiro and Christopher Clore, to delve into these accusations. Keefe D previously claimed in a 2009 police interview that Diddy had promised him $1 million to carry out the murders, ultimately paying half of that amount to Harlem gangster Eric “Von Zip” Martin after Tupac’s 1996 killing.
Legal documents obtained by The Sun reveal that Keefe D travelled to New York with Los Angeles Police Department detectives months after his interview. This trip was part of a broader effort to gather evidence against Diddy and Martin. Prosecutors describe Keefe as an “active confidential informant” for a task force originally formed to investigate the murder of Christopher “Biggie” Wallace.
Despite these allegations, Diddy has consistently denied any involvement in Tupac’s death. In a 2011 interview with L.A. Weekly, he dismissed Keefe D’s story as “pure fiction and completely ridiculous.”
Currently, Keefe D is the only individual to have been charged in connection with Tupac’s murder, despite his later denials of involvement. The charges were brought forward as part of a Las Vegas case over two decades after the crime. Keefe, who is now battling cancer, has previously admitted to a role in the shooting in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” but has since recanted these statements.
Tupac’s family is determined to uncover the truth. If their investigation yields new evidence, they plan to pursue criminal charges against those involved.
