Nollywood Actor Ikechukwu Nweke Appeals for Support Amid Colon Cancer Battle
Veteran Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has revealed that he is battling colon cancer and has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance to continue his medical treatment.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday and titled My Cancer Journey, the actor disclosed that he was diagnosed with the disease in 2025 and has since spent more than ₦15 million on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans and medication.
Nweke said he initially chose to keep his health condition private but explained that the rising cost of treatment has made it difficult for him to continue without public support.
According to him, family members have made significant contributions toward his treatment, while several colleagues in the film industry, including Uche Nancy, Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold and Ebele Okaro, have also offered financial and emotional support.
Despite the assistance he has received, the actor said his treatment is far from over.
“Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from. I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately. I have spent a lot of money and my family members have contributed a whole lot. People close to me like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others have also been supportive.
“Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
“Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life.”
The actor accompanied the video with his bank account details, urging members of the public to contribute toward the cost of his ongoing treatment and to keep him in their prayers as he continues his fight against the illness.
