Rema Named Among TIME100 Next 2025 Rising Stars
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema has been named among the 2025 TIME100 Next list, a global recognition that celebrates the world’s most influential emerging figures shaping the future across music, film, sports, science, politics, and philanthropy.
The list, published on Tuesday, highlights Rema – born Divine Ikubor – as the only African artist to be honoured this year. His profile was penned by Beninese music legend and multiple Grammy Award-winner Angélique Kidjo, who praised the young star for his global impact and artistic accomplishments.
“The young Nigerian superstar has accomplished so much: ‘Calm Down’ has joined the billion-streams club twice over,” Kidjo wrote. “Rema is the embodiment of the international success of Afrobeats. Thanks to artists like him, African music is at the forefront of global culture.”
Rema joins a diverse list of global talents, including Teyana Taylor and GloRilla, who were also recognised for their rising influence in the entertainment industry.
This honour further cements Rema’s position as one of Africa’s most successful music exports, continuing to push Afrobeats to new international heights.
