LL Cool J Chooses Surprising Actor to Portray Him in Potential Biopic
Legendary rapper and actor LL Cool J has revealed an unexpected choice for who he’d like to play him in a potential biopic—fellow hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the NCIS star shared that if his life story were ever to hit the big screen, he would want Snoop Dogg to step into his shoes. The two artists have even had brief conversations about Snoop producing a biopic on LL Cool J, with the “Radio” rapper playfully insisting that Snoop takes on the lead role.
“We’ve talked about it briefly, but only under the condition that he actually plays me,” LL Cool J said with a smile. “I need Snoop Dogg to be LL Cool J in my biopic. You can produce it if you do that.”
Despite the lighthearted nature of his comments, the Queens, New York native admitted that he has mixed feelings about the idea of making a biopic. While many iconic rappers, including 2Pac, Biggie, and 50 Cent, have had their lives immortalized in film, LL Cool J remains uncertain about the prospect.
“I’m open to it, but I’m not gonna lie, it bores me a little bit,” he confessed. “I have mixed emotions about it. I’ve got so much to do creatively, and it feels a bit like looking in the mirror too much.”
While Snoop Dogg has yet to respond to LL Cool J’s request, he is currently focused on his own biopic. In late 2022, it was announced that Universal Pictures would be producing an authorized film about Snoop’s life, with the Hughes brothers directing and Joe Robert Cole of Black Panther fame writing the script.
Meanwhile, LL Cool J continues to shape his own legacy. On September 6, the 56-year-old rap veteran is set to release his 14th studio album, The FORCE. Produced entirely by Q-Tip, the album features collaborations with Eminem, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Saweetie, and Snoop Dogg, among others.
