Brazilian Police Foil Bomb Plot Targeting Lady Gaga Concert in Rio

Authorities in Brazil have confirmed that a planned bombing at Lady Gaga’s concert in Rio de Janeiro was successfully prevented on Saturday night.

The Rio Civil Police revealed that one suspect is in custody in connection with the foiled attack, which was allegedly aimed at drawing social media attention. According to investigators, the plot involved the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and the suspects were recruiting participants online to help carry out the assault.

The concert, part of Lady Gaga’s global Mayhem Tour, was held at the iconic Copacabana venue and drew thousands of fans. Security was heightened after police intelligence units intercepted communications linked to the planned attack.

Lady Gaga, who announced the Rio stop on her tour via Instagram last month, had expressed excitement about returning to Brazil after a previously cancelled show. “It’s a great honor to be asked to sing for Rio,” she wrote. “For my whole career, the fans in Brazil have been part of the lifeblood of the Little Monsters.”

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine whether others were involved in the plot. The concert proceeded without incident, and no injuries were reported.
