It’s Like He Came Back – Davido Discloses Son’s Resemblance to Late Ifeanyi Adeleke
Nigerian music star Davido has opened up about the emotional experience of welcoming twins a year after the tragic loss of his first son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, revealing that his newborn son looks strikingly like the late child.
Speaking during an interview on Apple Music 1 with Ebro Darden, the award-winning artist described the resemblance between his twin boy and Ifeanyi as “scary,” admitting that it feels almost as though his son has returned.
“It’s like literally him,” Davido said. “We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back.’”
Ifeanyi, the singer’s first son with wife Chioma Rowland, died in a drowning incident at Davido’s Lagos residence on October 31, 2022, just days after his third birthday. The tragedy led the singer to take a step back from the public eye to grieve and support his family.
Reflecting on that period, Davido said, “That type of loss made me be like, ‘I’m out.’ I just wanted to chill, take care of my wife and the family, and get my head right.”
The couple welcomed a set of twins – a boy and a girl – in the United States in October 2023, marking a significant moment of healing and new beginnings for the family. “To come back from that and be blessed with twins just shows that God is real,” Davido added.
