Amazon Reopens £20,000 Kindle Storyteller Award for 2025 Entries
Amazon has officially launched the 2025 edition of its Kindle Storyteller Award, a prestigious prize designed to spotlight exceptional self-published authors and their stories. Now in its ninth year, the award offers a £20,000 cash prize and is open to authors across all genres.
The competition is open from May 1 to August 31, 2025, and eligible entrants must publish their books through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform and enrol in KDP Select for the duration of the contest. Authors must be aged 18 or older to participate.
Unlike traditional literary awards, the Kindle Storyteller Award leverages Amazon’s ecosystem of readers to help determine the shortlist. Sales performance and customer reviews play a key role in the early selection phase, before a panel of judges – including publishing professionals and Amazon Books representatives – selects the overall winner.
Jen Barrett, UK Manager for KDP, highlighted the inclusive nature of the award: “It’s always a joy to support authors at various stages of their journey and to witness the remarkable diversity of stories that come through.”
Previous winners, including 2024 recipient JD Kirk, have credited the award with expanding their readership and opening new opportunities. Kirk, whose books have gained a loyal following, said the award gave his career a significant boost, especially with the upcoming release of his first psychological thriller.
The winner of the 2025 Kindle Storyteller Award will be revealed in November. Entries must be submitted by August 31.
