Sabrina Ionescu’s Roots Shape Nike Sabrina 3 “Walnut” Release
Nike has unveiled a new colourway of Sabrina Ionescu’s latest signature basketball shoe, drawing inspiration from the WNBA star’s hometown. The Nike Sabrina 3 “Walnut” references Walnut Creek, California, where Ionescu was born and raised, adding a personal chapter to her growing footwear line.
Although Ionescu is still early in her professional career, her signature range has already explored both competitive milestones and playful themes. This latest edition shifts the focus to her roots, with the “Walnut” name widely seen as a nod to her hometown rather than the shoe’s colour palette.

The design features a mix of cool blue tones across the upper, contrasted by a gold Swoosh on the lateral side. Black detailing appears on the tongue and outsole, giving the shoe a sharp finish. While Nike has not explicitly detailed how Walnut Creek influenced the design, some observers suggest the blue hues may reference the aquatic imagery found on the city’s flag.
Retail listings indicate that the Nike Sabrina 3 “Walnut” will be released exclusively in grade school sizing, with no adult version announced so far. The shoe is scheduled to launch on January 1, with a suggested retail price of $110.
The release continues Nike’s strategy of blending on-court performance with personal storytelling in Ionescu’s signature line, offering younger players a chance to connect with the athlete’s journey both on and off the court.
