JJC Skillz Accuses Don Jazzy and D’banj of Betrayal in Early Career Years
Veteran Nigerian singer and producer Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz, has alleged that music stars Don Jazzy and D’banj betrayed him during their early days as struggling artists in the United Kingdom.
Speaking during a recent interview on Echo Room, JJC Skillz claimed that the duo, alongside others in their circle, conspired against him despite the support he said he provided at the time. According to him, he offered accommodation, food, clothing and opportunities to perform while they were still trying to find their footing in the industry.
JJC recounted that he met Don Jazzy and D’banj through mutual contacts while they were involved in running a television station. He explained that he later asked them to help connect him with key figures in Nigeria’s music scene, given their links to the country. He said they agreed and introduced him to talent manager Bankulli.
However, JJC alleged that unknown to him, plans were already being made behind the scenes. He said he was shocked when he later heard claims, reportedly attributed to D’banj, that he had cheated them financially while they worked together in the UK.
The singer expressed disbelief at the allegation, insisting that the artists were not earning significant income at the time and that he personally covered many of their basic needs while also taking them to shows.
Don Jazzy, D’banj and the other individuals mentioned in the interview have not publicly responded to the claims as of the time of this report.
