Seun Kuti Accuses Wizkid Of Copying His Nickname
Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has stirred conversation online after accusing fellow Nigerian music star Wizkid of adopting his nickname.
Kuti made the claim during a recent livestream session after a Wizkid fan suggested he should stop using the name “Big Bird” because Wizkid is popularly known as “Biggest Bird.”
Reacting to the comment, Seun Kuti dismissed the suggestion and insisted he had been using the nickname long before Wizkid. He urged the fan to advise the Grammy-winning artiste to come up with something original instead.
According to Kuti, he has no intention of changing his nickname, stressing that it has been part of his identity for years.
“Wizkid took my name. Tell your favourite to be creative. Why are you asking me to change mine? I can’t do that. I’ve been called this for a long time. I came up with it first,” he said.
The singer added that he is not in competition with anyone over the nickname and simply wants to retain what he considers his personal brand.
The comments have since sparked mixed reactions among fans of both artistes across social media platforms.
