Polyphony Digital Begins Work on New Gran Turismo

A new instalment of the long-running Gran Turismo franchise appears to be in development, with Japanese studio Polyphony Digital launching a fresh recruitment drive.

The studio, best known for its racing simulator series often described as “The Real Driving Simulator,” has published 18 job openings across a range of roles. Vacancies include positions for testers, computer graphics artists and other development staff, signalling preparations for the next chapter of the iconic PlayStation franchise.

A message on the recruitment page, attributed to founder Kazunori Yamauchi, reflects on the series’ 25-year history and credits players for its longevity. The statement emphasises a desire to continue blending art and technology to deliver a stronger experience in future releases.

A prominent banner on the page announces that the studio is “now hiring staff for the production of ‘Gran Turismo,’” further reinforcing speculation that work is underway on a new title.

While no official release window has been disclosed, industry observers note that major Gran Turismo entries typically undergo lengthy development cycles. As a result, the next game may still be several years away and could potentially launch on Sony’s next-generation console.

Gran Turismo has been a flagship racing franchise for PlayStation platforms for more than two decades, earning acclaim for its realistic driving mechanics and detailed vehicle modelling. The new hiring push suggests the series’ evolution is far from over.
